I feel like I always say “I had a blast shooting…” and I pretty much always do! But seriously, I had a blast shooting Mike and Megan’s engagement photos. For two hours we talked about movies, Zach Galifianakis, Daniel Tosh, and a bunch of other awesome things… oh, and we took some photos too. Mike and Megan are awesome and I cannot wait for their wedding this summer! Enjoy the images!

Wedding Day Emotion

Without a doubt capturing the emotions of a wedding day is my favorite part about wedding photography. It’s real, powerful, and often times has to be captured in the blink of an eye. I shot Jon and Kristina’s wedding last month at the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla. You’ll notice it’s the my latest post prior to this one. : ) Their wedding was filled with tears of joy, many laughs, and tons of excitement.

On that note, last week amazing photographer and friend, Michael Norwood, posted a wedding on his blog using only images that were in no way coached or directed by him. No Portraits, and no details. The images were beyond great and really made you feel like you were a part of the wedding. Michael is also the owner of a great album company, Madera Books. So, upon posting this wedding he announced a contest. The contest is for other photographers to make a blog post of a wedding (new or old) using only photojournalistic images from the day. The winner will receive a Madera album and be able to rub it in everyone’s face that they won (I added the last part).

So, here is my entry… a couple images you may recognize from my previous post, but for the most part they are new.

Thank you Michael for holding this contest and encouraging real emotion wedding photography.

My good friends Joe and Katie have been married 10 years and have 3 adorable daughters. I seriously love the heck out of their family. I also “seriously love the heck out of” Erica Beukelman, from 10.11. Makeup, who did an awesome job on Katie’s hair and makeup for this shoot. The rain made for a fun challenge, but we pushed through, stayed pretty dry, and still managed to have a lot of fun. Happy anniversary you two!

Pasadena Portrait Session

Here are some portraits of my three aunts taken in downtown Pasadena (2 aunts and 1 cousin, but who’s counting?). I seriously forgot how much I love that place… it’s such a nice area!
